I’m sure everyone has been wished Happy New Year until they are blue in the face, but I’d like to do it as well. Obviously, the coming of January is a great time to introduce resolutions in the form of one or more things that will make us better people in the year ahead. I’m quite big on resolutions and always like to set myself challenges during the year.
Some are more useful than others. This year I’ve vowed to watch all the Bond films, for example. I start with Dr No next week. That’s not very useful. But I’ve also pledged to do more exercise. The latter will last until around March, but I do think I will watch all the Bond films. I’ve also set myself a goal of writing a weekly blog. I’ve tried blogging before, maybe about six years ago. Nobody read it, let’s be honest. Maybe this will go the same way and I’ll be sacking it off around April, but if I can get a few followers then I’ll continue.
So what’s it going to be about? Well, I’m a teacher and a writer. This blog will be about the writing side of things, and in particlular about a book I’m writing on the Lake District at the moment. The deadline is the end of October to get it finished by, but there’s bound to be other things going on as well as I do a lot of work for magazines, newspapers and there are two other books coming out this year. So stick with me, get in touch whenever you want and we’ll see how 2013 goes.
Oh, and Happy New Year.
